The brand’s immense success led to the spin-off of the hotel management division, Viceroy Hotel Group, in 2008 and the creation of the Proper Hospitality in 2014. Bradford Korzen – Chief Executive Officer
Brad Korzen is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Kor Group. Brad Korzen has developed a dynamic portfolio of resorts, hotels, multifamily properties and commercial investments while guiding the diverse corporation behind its growth and operations. For over two decades, Brad has mined his unique understanding of contemporary financial and cultural climates to develop, market and manage real estate assets that are at once traditionally profitable and creatively progressive. Under his direction, Kor has grown from a real estate acquisition and property management firm to a multi-faceted corporation with fully integrated acquisitions, development, construction, sales, marketing and management capabilities. Recognized in the trade and popular media as a leading force on the contemporary boutique hotel scene, Brad is perhaps best known for his burgeoning collection of high-end lifestyle hotels in some of the globe’s hottest hospitality destinations, including the award-winning properties that make up Viceroy Hotel Group, a luxury hotel brand that Brad created. In addition to his success in the hospitality market, Brad has acquired, developed, and operated a collection of multifamily properties throughout the United States. A Chicago native and graduate of the University of Illinois, Brad holds a Juris Doctorate from University of Miami School of Law.
Brian De Lowe – President and Principal
As President and Principal at Kor, Brian De Lowe leads corporate strategy and the sourcing and execution of real estate acquisitions. Brian is also President and Co-Founder of Proper Hospitality. Since 2004, Brian has successfully closed over $1 billion of acquisitions and dispositions of multifamily and hospitality real estate assets. Prior to re-joining Kor, Brian was the Vice President of Business Development for Viceroy Hotel Group, where he oversaw the company’s acquisitions and business development activity in the Americas. He previously served as Development Director at both Viceroy and Kor, leading the acquisition, development and redevelopment of real estate assets in the U.S. and Latin America. Brian started his career in the Debt & Structured Finance group of Buchanan Street Partners. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, where he graduated magna cum laude.
Alex Samek – Principal
As Principal, Alex Samek is responsible for creating and executing Kor’s strategy for commercial investment, acquisition and development. This includes optimizing the value of Kor’s current property portfolio, and identifying and securing future acquisitions and business development opportunities. Since joining Kor in 2004, Alex has overseen more than $600 million in acquisitions and development for the company, including hospitality, multifamily and residential projects in the US and the Caribbean. Prior to joining Kor, Alex invested more than $100 million in equity to acquire and integrate six companies while at North Castle Partners, a private equity firm with more than $500 million under management. While in the Technology Corporate Finance Group at NationsBank/Bank of America, Alex raised more than $600 million of capital to finance highly leveraged transactions for financial sponsors and provided more than $1 billion of debt financing for technology companies. Alex earned a BSBA from Washington University and an MBA from Columbia Business School. Alex is based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Tripp DuBois – Managing Partner, Sales & Marketing
Tripp is a Managing Partner, Sales and Marketing for The Kor Group. As the Managing Partner of Sales and Marketing, Tripp is responsible for creating and executing innovative marketing and sales strategies to drive revenue growth, profitability and long term value for investors. Since joining the Kor Group in 2006, Tripp has overseen branding, design, digital marketing, sales, business development and project leadership across hospitality, multi-family and residential projects within the Western United States, Mexico and the Caribbean. Prior to joining Kor, Tripp was a Senior Executive with EMI Music and restaurant entrepreneur. Tripp received a BS in Finance and Marketing from Syracuse University’s Martin J. Whitman School of Management
Devang Shah – Vice President Real Estate Sales & Marketing
As Vice President for the Real Estate Sales & Marketing division, Devang oversees market analysis, product programming, legal contracts, financing, staffing, pricing, sales strategy and new business development. In addition to these strengths, he brings years of expertise in branding, product positioning and marketing. Prior to joining the team in 2013, he was Vice-President of Strategy and Asset Management for CityView, where he managed the disposition of over 20 projects and 2,200 homes across the country in CityView’s national for-sale residential portfolio. Devang’s background in consulting and hands-on experience in development and asset management for major institutional investors and home builders, gives him the unique perspective on all facets of residential development. Devang, received a BS in Finance and Business Economics from the University of Southern California.
Fabian Iobbi – Principal, Design & Construction
Fabian Iobbi joined Kor in November 2004. His background in both residential and commercial construction soundly complements Kor’s real estate development product types. During his tenure at Kor, Fabian has been responsible for the design and construction of over 300 residential units with a combined value of over $175 million and 250 hotel units with a combined value of over $10 million. In his role, he has managed budgeting, schedule, entitlements, master planning, design and construction. Prior to joining Kor, Fabian was a Project Manager for McCarthy Building Companies, managing all aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, procurement, schedule, and quality control. He holds a master’s degree in Construction Management from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from California State University.
Serge Arutti – Sr. Vice President, Finance & Operations
Serge Arutti manages the overall direction and control of all financial and administrative matters in support of the company’s strategic business objectives, including finance and accounting, tax preparation, human resources, and technology. He also supports capital relationship building and relationship management for new and existing equity partners. Serge brings over eighteen years of broad-based accounting experience, of which he spent the last sixteen years in real estate accounting. Between his tenure with Kor and his prior employer, Casden Properties, LLC, Serge has successfully managed accounting books for over a billion dollars of various income-producing real estate properties. Serge holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from University of California, Riverside and a Masters in Business Administration degree from California Lutheran University.
Matthew Green – Principal, Acquisitions & Development
As the managing partner of the Austin office, Matt sources opportunity, oversees development and asset management for Kor. He identifies acquisitions and creates value through planning, entitlement and strategic partnerships. Prior to joining Kor, Matt was the VP of Development & Finance at Stratus Properties (STRS) where he served as a development manager, analyst and broker. He underwrote over $350 million of closed debt and $175 million of placed equity. Integral to the team, he managed the development of the W Austin Hotel & Residences. This $300 million development is one million square feet and includes a 2,500 capacity music venue anchored by Austin City Limits. He previously served as a legislative analyst in the Texas Senate. Matt is a Texas native and has resided in Austin since 1999. He holds a BS from the University of Texas at Austin as well as an MS in Community & Regional Planning.
Nicholas White – Principal
Nicholas oversees Kor’s capital market activities, including joint venture equity and debt. Prior to joining Kor, Nicholas was a Partner at Preferred Capital Advisors and Vice President of Finance at Palmer Investments. His responsibilities and experience include joint venture equity and debt placement, project and asset management, underwriting, and acquisitions of approximately 12,900 residential units, 3.8 million SF of office space, 1.5 million SF of retail space, 350k SF of industrial space, a golf course, and 1,500 hotel rooms. Nicholas holds two Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of California, Davis.
Zachary Vourlas – Director of Design and Architecture
Zachary oversees architecture and design for Kor’s residential and hospitality projects. Coordinating and managing the design, engineering and construction teams for residential and hospitality projects through all stages of development. Prior to joining Kor, Zachary worked as a Senior Architect for Herzog de Meuron, designing and managing high-end commercial and luxury residential projects. Zachary graduated from University of California at Berkeley with highest honors in Architecture from the College of Environmental Design.
